ITV’s chat shows ‘This Morning’ and ‘Lorraine’ both paid tribute to the hero in our eyes, Captain Sir Tom Moore after him sadly passing away at the phenomenal age of 100.

‘This morning’ captured Captain Sir Tom Moore’s life in a montage video with narration over the top to give their audience a stronger emotional feel towards the ‘Man who inspired a nation’. The effectiveness of this is touching to the viewers as the montage of videos shown, allows the audience to just remember what a hero he really has been and the impacts he has had on the nation. The relevance of this story today is so significant as we remember how the 100 year old raised £39 million for the NHS. They commented that ‘he became a symbol of hope during one of the toughest years the country has injured’.

‘This Morning’ interviewed Captain Sir Tom Moore’s biggest fans for them to pay their tribute and share their memories. Highlighting once again how he has become such a hero to many and how his quote ‘Tomorrow will be a good day’ has had such a positive impact on the nation.

In reflection to this ‘Lorraine’ pays tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore but approaches it slightly differently to ‘This morning’. Lorraine approaches it by going straight in with interviews and focuses on how the story was first found on ‘Captain Sir Tom Moores charity walk’. Similarly to ‘This morning’ Lorraine comments on how his charitable walk had such an important impact on not only the NHS but the nation. The effectiveness of her interviews with those who met Captain Sir Tom Moore were so uplifting as they commented on what a hero he really was.

Both morning chat shows performed a superb job in paying tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore and it is evident that he really is ‘A man who inspired a nation’.
